MAN Future Lab wins 2018 XING New Work Award

Winner in the “Recognized Companies” category // The concept of the MAN Future Lab office environment (MAN Future Lab) is becoming a reality

For the creation of its innovative office environment concept under the motto “MAN Future Lab” (MAN Future Lab), MAN Truck & Bus was awarded the XING New Work Award 2018 in the “Recognized Companies” category. The prize is awarded to companies that have created the most innovative models for organizing the workflow of tomorrow. The new office concept of the future from MAN is without a doubt such a model: the innovative layout is based on the open space principle Open Space. MAN Future Lab covers an area of 300 square meters and is divided into separate zones, adapted to the most diverse working situations. Equipment Laboratory of the future MAN allows you to try out various hardware and software solutions through innovative and modern IT-infrastructure. Employees in Munich have a huge area for experimentation, which, thanks to the innovative division of space and the most modern IT equipment, perfectly meets the needs of the office environment of tomorrow. Thus, the Future Lab is another milestone on the way to creating a 4.0 working environment at MAN Truck & Bus.

“I am incredibly pleased to receive the XING New Work Award. The winner was determined by online voting, which was attended by almost 60,000 users. The fact that we have received so many votes indicates that our concept of the MAN Future Lab office environment looks convincing. Since we also received feedback from our employees, the first results of this project have already been taken into account in the planning of other office spaces in the company. Thus, the MAN Future Lab’s working environment is becoming a reality, ”says Dr. Carsten Intra, a member of the MAN Truck & Bus board responsible for personnel matters.

“It is important for MAN employees to have a future-oriented work environment. Within the framework of the Future Lab, many of us were able to accumulate valuable experience and at the same time make suggestions. All this makes the results very meaningful for everyone. After all, the working environment of the future should be focused on the person, ”said Zaki Stim Stioniaris, chairman of the trade union of MAN employees.

Since May 2017, various departments of the company have taken the opportunity to work in an innovative office space for a month. There they can try out and improve new modern forms of work. The new working environment has already been tested by about 200 employees of a commercial vehicle manufacturer. For the successful implementation of the MAN Future Lab project, MAN Truck & Bus chose the “360˚” approach: in addition to scientific support from the Fraunhofer Institute, employees of various departments of the company work under the guidance of a mentor to introduce modern work organization methods. He tells in detail about new forms of collaboration and acquaints employees with the appropriate tools.
